Teaching Philosophy
"It is the aim of the university to make students feel that life is never more noble and beautiful than when it conforms to the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ." --David O. McKay
My teaching philosophy still evolves as I grow as an individual, interact with students, develop in the profession, adapt with technology, and apply the learning and teaching model to prepare, teach one another, and reflect/prove. My central focus has always been the student, hopefully, the individual student.
I've divided this section into four areas: Teaching Philosophy Statement, Lessons from Teaching, Learning and Teaching, and Teaching Philosophy Statements. Teaching Philosophy Statement conveys my teaching values, beliefs, and goals while providing evidence of my teaching effectiveness. Lessons from Teaching lists statements of principles I've learned through teaching and administration, frequently through difficult times. Learning and Teaching includes talks, books, and articles that have directed and strengthen my teaching. Teaching Philosophy Documents become expanded, public versions of my teaching philosophy. |
