Eng 420 Young Adult Literature
In 1988, I created, developed, and taught a new course for Ricks College which became Eng 420 Young Adult Literature. I taught the course for many years on campus and through continuing education for English teacher recertification.
Course Description
In ENG 420 Young Adult Literature students explore contemporary young adult novels as a genre of literature, including the historical development, current trends, and enduring characteristics of young adult literature and its influence on readers. Various works are analyzed according to critical perspectives. Readings include a number of subgenres, such as, adventures, mysteries, humor, fantasy, science fiction, the people and places of history, and modern social issues. Course Outcomes
