Preparation for Internships and Careers
The focus of English 390 Preparation for Internships and Careers is on preparing students for professional writing in the job markets they encounter in the future. It has two closely related objectives--acquiring internships and landing career positions after school. This course will introduce students to the different types of writing they may encounter in their internships or careers such as business writing, promotional writing, script writing, speech writing, news writing, interviewing, storytelling, leadership writing, and technical writing. Students will create two portfolios: one a classical portfolio and an electronic portfolio. Also as professional writers, ethical principles which include integrity, honest, and courage are essential for long term success and happiness, and the course work facilitates an inquiry into the ethical codes of the students, encouraging them to create and revise a specific set of principles to work by.
