Course Evaluations
"Every one of us who is here has accepted a sacred and compelling trust. With that trust, there must be accountablity. That trust involves standards of behavior as well as standards of academic excellence."

Student evaluations are a good indicator of students' perceptions of what is going on in a course and how effectively a teacher reaches them as individuals. I know that beginning students are not really qualified to know if a teacher is an authority in the field, if the course assignments are relevant and valuable, and if the exams are appropriate--students lack the big picture. However, their perceptions help a teacher to identify strong and weak areas within the crucial student/teacher relationships.
Student evaluations are also a means for me to evaluate myself and how my efforts become a reflection of the classroom. |
